RE: What is the most spectacular view you've ever seen?

April 1968 as we landed in Anchorage from Yakota, Japan after leaving Siagon before two days earlier. First and last time I ever kissed concrete. Niagra Falls is a distant second.

Saturn/Falcon 2/Even Brake

Having a Falcon 2 with hidden baseplate and a lighting kit installed on Monday. I want to have an Even Brake installed too but..... They want $1195.00 for the brake unit plus $60.00 for install (half price off sale on install, reg 120.00). I can purchase the same model Even Brake for $999.00. I would have to install it. Seems like the way to go except I'm unsure about installing. I think I'd have no issue with the brake away switch and wiring. And, since they are installing the light kit with the tow package, shouldn't it be just a simple plug in and mount the transmitter. It appears that it simply plugs into the brake relay they are going to install if I'm reading the instructions right. Any ideas on this. I'm pretty well mechanically inclined but would hate to do damage wiring the thing. Anyone else done anything like this? Thanks in advance. DakotaD (Gary)

RE: Tow Vehicle vs tow dolly

Have a dolly now but CW is installing my Falcon 2 next Monday. The dolly works fine it's just such a hassle. My big problem now is deciding which auxiliary brake system to use. Leaning toward Even Brake from Roadmaster. It's proportional and not simply on/off. Sure will be glad to get the towbar. I realize it is a little more wear and tear on the vehicle but the dolly is more wear and tear on me. I can replace the toad. GT (DW says I can be replaced too.)

RE: Removing wasp nest from furnace

I have screens over every intake including ref, furnace, and the exhaust port of my atwood water heater. Use wire and not the fiberglass thought. It forms easily and I used a few spots of 5 minute epoxy to hold it in place. The most difficult was the cover over the ref due to the odd size and shape of the intake holes. It isn't that difficult. You just have to get creative with the scissors. Not sure why any mfg would suggest not using screens if they are built for that or do not restrict air flow to any great extent. Good luck and e-mail me if you need pics.

RE: GPS software.

I download POI's from this site into my Garmin 7200. The have many POI's. Knowing that all Petro and Flying J's are RV friendly I downloaded them. I didn't look by the exact criteria you mentioned. Good luck...... http://www.poi-factory.com/

RE: Hydraulic slide will not stay in

I had the same proble with my National Sea Breeze. It's electrical but still creeped out about an inch. I went to Northern Tool (hope you have one near by) and bought two cargo support bars. It's adjustable as each pad on either end screws in or out as you twist the tube. I did have to cut each end off about 10 inches as they would only come in to 44 inches and my slide comes in 33 inches. I drilled holes and put a bolt/nut and problem solved. They are chrome and look like they were made for this. I put about 6 inches of friction tape in the center of the bar to aid in tightening. Total cost 30 bucks plus tax. Good luck......if you need pics e-mail me.

RE: Question for RV'ers

We own a MH. We're inside quite a bit watching movies, reading, playing dominos or Canasta or just talking. We go out when we feel like it. DW has Parkinson's so we have to go out during her "on times". If you don't see us there is a reason. Not that it's any of your business but feel free to stop by and say hi if you see us out. I'd rather you suspect there is a valid reason rather than say you don't understand why we don't come out more or insinuate that we are wasting valuable camping time. We're together, away from work and enjoying our lifestyle, as we choose. JMHO.......

RE: My weekend with photos and a point!!! Smokers stay away!

Looks like a wonderful day, running around taking pictures of butts. If it weren't for your kind where would we be. You are the salt of the earth and bless you for bringing this to everyone's attention. Hopefully next time you'll take us some pics of dog poop or if we're lucky sucker sticks or some other dreadful thing. Get a life for ****** sake. Enjoy the family, take a walk, ride your bike. Look up, the sky is blue and will not fall. Been on here for a long time now and this one takes the cake. Nope, non smoker here, just someone who gets angry at do gooders and anyone else who trys to tell us how we should act. Work for a charity, give to a needy cause but don't police the world for us. JMHO.........

RE: gen-turi

I won't camp without one. They are well worth the money. It will drop the noise down a little too. You can rest easy knowing your exhaust is going up and away. If you go to bed with the wind blowing fine, but what if it stops in the middle of the night? We camped next to a TT at the Balloon Fiesta last year and his gen blew right into my door. He asked and was moved (without my complaining) because he kept hearing my co2 alarm go off. Came over and appologized and was moved to an end site. I camped at the Indy 500 this year and must have had over a dozen campers come by to check out my Genturi. Everyone is amazed at the noise level. One guy even asked me how much I paid for the "Silencer". I explained to him what it actually was. You can make your own cheaper but it "looks homemade" I've seen some and they do the work. Then I've seen some homemade works of art that created a lot of back pressure by the way they were made. That is the whole idea behind it. I guess I sound like a Genturi salesman but I just think it's one of the best improvements I've made to my MH. Good luck......

RE: New or used?

How about a new one at a used price???? After National went out of business (bankrupt), I began looking for one figuring I'd get a sweet deal on a new one. I did and we are extremely happy with our 07 Sea Breeze. If you buy used you'll have zero warranty on anything over 3 years any way. I have a new coach I got for under 80K (35', V10 F53 Ford, Model 1350) We have 3/36 Chassis warranty, 3 years on all dometic ac and refer, 1 year on furnace from Atwood and the Microwave is 1 year. You won't get that with a used unit. You can go new but will still pay a heafty price even with the market down. Front and rear cap molds were purchsed and are available if needed and the rest is fiberglass. Windshields are available several places. It was a no brainer for me. I even had the Dometic Refer recall fixed at no cost at camping world after simply calling Domitec and registering my model. I've heard some state they would never purchase anything where the company has bankrupted but it just made good sense to me to take the plunge. Even if I had to replace an engine after a few years, I've already saved the cost of one including labor from the MSR of 119K. It probably sold new last year for around 109K but I did get a deal. Had to drive from East Tennessee to Alabama to pick it up but it was worth every mile. If the economy doesn't get a turn around soon there will be lots more deals out there from others going Chapter 11. Good luck.

RE: National Dolphin motorhomes

We're on our second MH. The day I heard that National was going Chapter 11 I began calling every dealer within 500 miles looking for a deal on a National. Found an 07 Sea Breeze and traded in the B+ Lexington the next week. Nationals are great coaches in my opinion. Very solid and the F53 Chassis is strong. I'd went for a Dolphin in a heartbeat but the price on this new 1350 was too good to pass up. I did have to drive from East Tennessee to just below Birmingham to pick it up but that was a hoot. First time I drove anything 35' long. Good luck and try Burton's Campers in Calera, Alabama if you're close enough. Also, Carolina Coach made me a pretty decent offer on a Surf Side but we love the 1350 floor plan and side ailse and two door bathroom. This thing listed for 115K and we picked it up for under 80K. Had 2200 miles on it, never titled.

RE: We just don't understand...

I owned a small but perfectly good Class C (actually a B+ Lexington by Forest River) The instant I heard that National RV was bankrupt I started shopping. I felt that somewhere I would be able to find a dealer who was in panic mode and needed to get rid of something he had floor plan financed. We had to travel to Alabama from Tennessee to get it but got a sweet deal on an new 07 Sea Breeze, 35' on a F53 Ford chassis. We've put about 6k miles on her so far and it is a dream. I went from a "truck" to a bus over night and would never go back. We have the 1350 floor plan which we love bucause of the side aisle back to the bedroom and the two entry bathroom. National is bankrupt but everything major is covered by its manufacture and like someone else said dealers can work on anything. If you buy something over 3 years old you'll have no warranty on anything except maybe some chassis warranty left. Not much though. I picked this up for under 80K and it listed new for 119K. Even if I had to put an engine in it tomorrow I'm still ahead. Look around, lots of good deals now and some really sweet deals if you are willing to chance it on a National. The are solid and the quality is better that lots of entry level coaches. Good luck...

RE: directv satellite dish

When we had Directv installed about 5 months ago I told the installer what I intended to do. That was to use a receiver from the house when I travel. I asked him where the best place to get a dish was and he offered to drop me off one free the next time a customer dropped out of service. Got home one day and a brand new looking dish was sitting on the front porch with a note "good luck, call if you have any problems". What serivce. I bought a tripod at CW and a cable and I'm all set. I also bought an 18lb boat anchor at wallyworld and use that to keep it steady in the wind. Works great. I did buy a signal finder but have not used it yet as the directv system has the auto find with the volume turned up I can hear the beep a long way off. Good luck....

RE: Suggestions on things to do in Gatlinburg???

Come by the house and mow my lawn. We're right at exit 407 behind the Tennessee Smokies Baseball Park........... Yeah, right. Anyway, for sure Dollywood and Dixie Stampede and Cades Cove. Smokie Mountain Knife Works just off I-40 on SR 66 is great if you're into that. Tons of dinner shows all over Pigeon Forge. Good luck....... (the offer is good if you're really inot mowing too.....)

RE: generator exhaust

Genturi is great. On my rig it dampens the sound well. It rund up the wall of my bedroom and I can really tell a difference when it's mounted. I had problems with my first Class B+ where the slides were not sealed very well when opened. Cold air could be felt when opened. I won't be without one now that I've used it.

RE: Warrior's assets siezed

I'm probably a little strange but I try to be optimistic and am a bit of an oportunist too. The day I heard about National RV going Chapter 11 I started shopping. I owned a great little B+ Lexington that was great but small and wanted to upsize to a class A. I searched around and found a brand new Sea Breeze for just a little over cost. Full warranty on everything. I realize that if I ever need a front or rear cap or some body parts that can't be repaired with fiberglass I may be in some difficulty. But..... It's a little different buying one just shortly before they go belly up but it isn't the end of the world either. Everything I have on the National is covered by the mfg and I've even just last week gotten the Domitec ref recall work done at no charge. Atwood, Toshiba, Ford, Samsung, it's all covered. It helps to be mechanically inclined and do a lot of preventative stuff yourself too. Or be rich...... I understand the feeling of being taken if you suspect the seller knew and didn't tell the buyer. That is probably not illegal but it is imoral in my humble opinion. WW owners need to band together like National owners have and work to help each other out. It's still a good product and anyway, after the warranty is out you'd be on your own anyway. Like I said, not trying to make light of a bad situation but again it's not the end of the world. good luck........

RE: Ford "53" mileage survey.

'07 Chassis, 35' National Sea Breeze 19,500 (weighed at DOT scale, loaded) 4100 miles total. We get 7.9 not towing according to Scan Gauge. Mostly mountain or hill country of East Tennessee so far and one trip to Myrtle Beach where I got 8.4 not towing. Towing for the first time to Reel Foot Lake in September hope to still get in the 7 range. I've got the biger V10 with 5 Speed with Tow/Haul mode. Anxious to see how that works out. I keep hearing that with more mileage it will improve, and I hope that is true.
